The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) to respond to allegations in Bailadila Mines of:

  • Forest clearance and livelihood impacts
  • Health and safety issues among Bailadila mines workers due to exposure to elevated levels of air pollutants
  • Riverine water pollution, particularly of Shankhini River
  • The widening of a road intended to transport ore from the Bailadila mines, which is reportedly wider than legally permitted and allegedly causes impacts, including illegal deforestation
