The Ministry of Labour (MoL) in Oman has reported a major crackdown on illegal labor practices, arresting over 1,500 violating workers across Muscat Governorate in November 2024...

The inspections uncovered a wide range of violations:

1,270 workers had absconded from their jobs or had ended their services. 69 workers were found working for employers other than their sponsors. 148 individuals were employed in regulated professions without the necessary permits. 64 workers were operating independently without authorization.

Additionally, 518 labor law violations were referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action...

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring a compliant labor environment in Oman and warned employers and workers against violating regulations. The intensified inspections aim to curb illegal practices, protect workers’ rights, and maintain fair labor standards in the region...
