Pedro Pandagay, leader of peasant struggles against mining companies and agribusiness corporations was shot dead in front of his children inside his home by suspected state agents. Pandagay was said to be often summoned by the military and was among those who resisted the planned mining operations that would cover 7,000 hectares.
