Sudan: Hemedti leverages X ,formerly twitter as RSF online facade of compassion

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have used digital propaganda to downplay their abuses and gain support from the Sudanese people and foreign allies. Recently, X (formerly Twitter) suspended the accounts of RSF commander Lt. Gen. Mohamed ‘Hemedti’ and four other commanders, following similar actions by Facebook and YouTube. Since the conflict began in April 2023, both sides have relied on social media for often unverifiable information and claims.
