Tesco's response to BHRRC Gender-based violence & Harassment report six-month update

[...]

We have launched a programme with our suppliers that 30% of managerial or supervisory roles in our supplier sites are occupied by women by 2025, discussions are being held with our suppliers to plan the necessary actions to achieve this target. We believe that enabling women in leadership positions will help increase women’s voices and transform the workplace, and we will support factories to build gender-sensitive grievance mechanisms. Tesco is part of Sedex’s Gender Working Group, aimed at improving the audit approach to ensure gender issues do not go undetected. Learnings from our current gender sensitive audit trial will be used to strengthen our approach in future audits. We plan to share the learnings and conduct training with our Tesco-approved audit bodies/ auditors specifically on this topic.

Our team has been in touch with the AFWA to discuss the cases identified in your report. Tesco colleagues have since visited the sites and discussed the report and allegations with management, ensuring corrective action plans are in place. We will continue to work closely to ensure that improvements are evident and the issues are fully addressed.

We would welcome an annual update from AFWA and H&M on how the Dindigul Agreement is progressing. We will also continue to engage AFWA directly in relation to your report.
