Türkiye: TikTok content moderators sue Telus over allegations of poor conditions & union retaliation; incl. co. response

A group of 15 low-paid content moderators for TikTok are suing Telus in Türkiye, alleging dismissals in retaliation for unionising, or union-busting. Telus Digital, a Canadian company providing outsourcing services for TikTok runs centres around the world.

Workers interviewed by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism alleged poor working conditions including severe stress on their mental health owing to the graphic nature of the videos they were required to watch. They were paid close to the minimum wage and described also being subject to strict accuracy targets.

Telus provided a statement in responses to the allegations; this can be read in full below.
