Debed river polluted following accident in “Nahatak” tailing dump pipeline; Report submitted to Investigative Committee, 18 August 2025

On August 16, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) received an alarm signal about pollution of the Debed River. Inspectors from the Lori and Tavush territorial divisions of EPMIB carried out hours-long inspections along the river to identify the possible source of contamination.

As a result, it was found that the pipeline leading from the Akhtala Mining and Processing Plant to “Nahatak” tailing dump facility had ruptured, which caused the river pollution, according to the Inspection Body...
