The Avá Guarani have been demanding the demarcation of their original lands for decades. Farmers, ranchers and other segments of society act criminally against the communities.

The leader reports that on the same day thatthe community was the target of a shooting attack, a car had driven past the community at low speed, filming his house with a mobile phone. Feeling vulnerable, the leader decided to leave the area with his family. In the armed attack, the leader's residence was one of the targets.

The community had already been attacked in July and August.
