China: Electronics firm fined 1.96m yuan over low wages
Shenzhen authorities have fined a Hong Kong-invested joint-venture company [Computime] a record 1.96 million yuan for paying illegally low wages and forcing workers to do overtime, two months after 3,000 employees took to the streets in protest at their treatment...A spokeswoman for Computime International in Hong Kong said the company regretted the incident and stressed the fine had been imposed on its mainland partner...The spokeswoman said Computime International had paid the workers in accordance with mainland law.
