In Singapore conference, Australian Chief Justice French cites need “to determine opportunities for convergence in commercial laws in so far as they may be related to human rights”

…The level of current interest in the region suggests that it would be useful to undertake at least a scoping project to determine opportunities for convergence in commercial laws in so far as they may be related to human rights issues. While some might say that the differing perspectives of polities on the topic make it more difficult than most, the difficulty is just one species of a genus of difficulties which face convergence projects generally. It does not mean that convergence is unattainable. It just means that it has to be planned and calibrated to achieve the best outcome in the circumstances…
