Indesit Verdict Typical of Justice System

In 2005, a 21-year-old worker had his head crushed in by a machine whose safety control were removed to make things faster. The sensor would have stopped the machine if it detected that somebody was dangerously close and could get hurt. But then, production would stop - so the factory directors decided to remove the sensor. A month earlier, another worker also suffered head injuries while operating the same machine. The Prosecutor's office found that the management had grossly neglected the workers' safety, putting the lives of 20 people using this machine at risk. Five directors from the factory were sentenced...receiving a couple of years of probation.
