Kazakhstan: Around 100 employees of Kazpost protest demanding salary increase

Around hundred employees of Kazpost in Almaty demanded an increase in salaries, 16 September 2022

On16th September about a hundred people gathered in front of the Kazpost building and complained about very low wages and the termination of payments that they previously received.

According to the protestants, in the context of a widespread price increase, it is impossible to live on a salary of 100,000 tenge (slightly more than $200).

Botagoz Kantarbayeva, who works as the head of department in one of Kazpost's branches in Almaty, says that due to low salaries, employees do not stay in the organization...

The protestants also said that the organization has not created the appropriate working conditions. For example, 10 minutes are allotted for a lunch break, work on weekends and holidays is not paid. Travel expenses associated with the delivery of letters are covered by themselves, employees complain.

Yerzhan Baitan, who introduced himself as a representative of the company, said that "depending on the work of employees, the amount of additional remuneration has increased"...

According to local media reports, Serik Saudabayev, chairman of the board of Kazpost, flew to Almaty to discuss protestants' demands.
