Myanmar: Garment workers at alleged H&M and ZARA supplier denied social security benefits incl. medical treatment; incl. co. responses

In March 2023, it was reported that workers at Mei Jie were facing a series of violations, including denial of social security benefits incl. medical treatment, wage cuts, mandatory overtime, workers forced to lie about working conditions when buyers come, limited toilet provisions, and women workers leaving the factory late after working hours.

In October 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited H&M and Inditex (for its ZARA brand) to respond. The responses can be found below.
