I write with regard to General Assembly resolution 68/167 entitled "The right to privacy in the digital age"...In preparation of the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights [on this issue] as requested in resolution 68/167, the Office of the High Commissioner is gathering information from a broad range of sources...In this regard, the Office would welcome the input of business enterprises with regard to the following issues: What challenges do business enterprises experience in relation to government policies and practices regarding domestic and extraterritorial surveillance and/or interception of digital communications, particularly as regards to their responsibility to respect human rights as set out in the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights?...What measures can business enterprises take to ensure that they minimize any negative impacts on the right to privacy that may stem from government requests...?...What measures are needed at the international or domestic level in order to enable business enterprises to fully meet their responsibilities to respect human rights?...
