"The objective of the summit [World Summit on the Information Society, Dec. 2003] is to develop a declaration of principles and an action plan that will ensure the benefits and rights of the information society are extended to all," said a statement by the International Telecommunication Union, a U.N. specialized agency that is sponsoring the summit along with other U.N. agencies.
