Response from Asian Development Bank to Defending Rights & Realising Just Economies report

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) takes all allegations of reprisals and human rights violations very seriously.

... ADB has maintained ongoing dialogue with civil society organizations... and we appreciate their critical role in monitoring and advocating for human rights protections. We have discussed the concerns raised and remain committed to working transparently and constructively with all stakeholders.

As part of our oversight of the ADB-financed project, ADB has engaged with Indorama Agro to discuss, assess, and address non-compliances with ADB's safeguards policy. This will continue through the extended annual review scheduled for later this year.

We are working with all our clients to uphold compliance with ADB’s Safeguard Policy Statement and core labor standards. We also continue to strengthen measures that promote meaningful stakeholder engagement and robust safeguards implementation...
