UDEFEGUA and ICAR release comprehensive study of business and human rights law and policy in Guatemala

ICAR is pleased to share that La Unidad de Protección a Defensoras y Defensores de Derechos Humanos, Guatemala (UDEFEGUA) has published a shadow National Baseline Assessment (NBA) of the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in Guatemala, and accompanying "General Considerations" based on the NBA's findings. This NBA represents one of the most exhaustive studies of Guatemala laws, policies, regulations, and standards that pertain to business and human rights at the national level. It is hoped that the results of this NBA will be utilized to inform the creation of a future National Action Plan (NAP) on business and human rights in Guatemala…The NBA is also intended as a tool for all stakeholders, including Guatemalan civil society groups, academia, government representatives, business groups, and investors, to engage with, add to, and apply in their efforts to address business-related human rights harms…
