Applications for forest & environment clearance to be digitised, activists fear will favour investors' interests over ecology & people

Project Monitoring Group (PMG) under the Cabinet Secretariat has decided to digitise all applications for clearances relating to forest & environmental for industry and infrastructure projects and for exploration clearances for mines. Environmentalists and activists fear that the system will be more skewed towards investors than ecological needs, leading to industrialisation of large green belts.
