[Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Anhui Foreign Economic Construction, ZMDC and New Reclamation Group to respond. They did not respond.] Admire Munindwa…and his two friends got into Anjin [Anjin is a joint venture Anhui Foreign Economic Construction, Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation & Govt. of Zimbabwe] concession…to pan for diamonds…they were…spotted by the guards who fired at them with…guns…Obert Musarira…went into Marange [Marange Resources is part of Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation]…where...the reaction team…set dogs on him…CRD [Centre for Research & Development] calls upon companies mining diamonds in Marange to uphold the principles of human rights and practices. It calls for the companies to…promote sustainable livelihoods...especially where they are exploiting the community’s natural wealth…CRD calls upon government to [hold]…mining companies to account for incidences of human rights abuses…and to immediately address security problems…CRD calls upon diamond mining companies to consult regularly with communities about the impact of their security arrangements and security officers must [receive]…training on human rights and security. [Also refers to Ge Nyame, Zimbabwe Diamonds, Jinan Diamond Mining Company, and Mbada Diamonds (joint venture New Reclamation Group & Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation)]
