[DOC] [Email to Björn Edlund, ABB, regarding Merowe/Hamadab Dam Project, Sudan]

You state that it would be "impractical" to call for a halt of the Merowe project until the project's problems have been addressed. We would like to emphasize that at present, ABB is involved in a project that does not have any officially sanctioned EIA [Environmental Impact Assessment], and which therefore violates host country law. Continued project construction will mean that more people are being displaced without any credible means of fair compensation and rehabilitation.
