Dow Jones Indexes and Sam Announce the 2011 Results of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Annual Review

Following SAM’s comprehensive Corporate Sustainability Assessment, 41 companies will be added to, and 23 firms will be deleted from the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), resulting in a total of 342 components. Ethical Investment Revolt - HP & Microsoft deleted from Dow Jones Sustainability Index

A dramatic change in the ethical investment profile of the tech sector gets underway today with Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) dumping HP and Microsoft from its listing...Earlier this year HP’s sustainability report recorded a ratcheting down of social investment & supply chain due diligence and a less than muscular approach to conflict minerals...Microsoft...has developed an inconsistent record on sustainability reporting...It's a big turn around in just a few short years from when these two titans set the standard on sustainability for the tech sector...On a brighter note - Alcatel Lucent, NTT DoCoMo, EMC, Sprint Nextel & Xerox are added to the index while Samsung takes tech sector leadership overall.

Pepsi top of the pops, Coke canned in DJSI review

Coca-Cola has been kicked off the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index...41 firms were added to the DJSI World and 23 deleted...Société Générale is among the largest additions...along with...Schneider Electric and...Medtronic... SAM...also named 19 ‘supersector’ leaders...PepsiCo led the food and drink pack...On the environmental metrics, PepsiCo received 100 out of 100 for packaging, raw materials sourcing and environmental policy/management systems. It received more than 75 points out of 100 on water risk. Itaúsa Investimentos Itaú was named financial services sector leader....Westpac Banking Corp was named sector-leader for banks, while Swiss Re is sector-leader for insurance...Enagás...won out as the top of the utilities ‘supersector’. [HP also deleted]
