The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has refused to investigate allegations of corruption involving a gold mine it co-owns in Peru...The IFC owns five percent of the Minera Yanacocha mine, the largest gold mine in Latin America, which is co-owned by Newmont and Buenaventura, a Peruvian company...Farmers living near the mine had long accused the company of contaminating the region's water supply.
