EU Commission proposes legislation to enshrine commitment to climate-neutrality by 2050 amid criticism over lack of interim 2030 target

On 4 March 2020, the EU Commission presented a proposal to enshrine in lawn the EU's commitment to be climate neutral by 2050, and launched a public consultation on the future European Climate Pact. Environmental activists have criticised the proposal for its failure to include an interim target for 2030.
