Foxconn shuts plant after violence [China]

Foxconn [part of Hon Hai] was forced to shut down its plant in Taiyuan…Monday after a fight broke out among 2,000 of its workers…leaving some 40 people injured, the [company] said…Around 5,000 policemen were sent to the scene...according to the Taiyuan police, Xinhua reported. The fight was brought under control [on the next day]…The incident started with a dispute between two workers, and escalated into a riot when the plant's security guards approached and started beating workers, said [an] employee…The cause of the dispute is under investigation, but it "appears not to have been work-related," said the Foxconn Technology Group in a statement…
