…From the assessment of the human rights issues…, it is important to underline that BMSC and the Bisha Mine have many solid building blocks in place for ongoing human rights due diligence.  These elements are identified and assessed in line with the operational requirements of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, as well as emerging guidance on good practices for companies in the extractive sector…Some stakeholders are critical of the Bisha Mine because of the human rights challenges in Eritrea, and other stakeholder praise [it] for providing new opportunities for individuals, communities, and the country…Nevsun has taken a very positive step in commissioning a human rights impact assessment.
