Indonesia: Villagers file complaint against RSPO for failure to address land grabbing cases vs. Sime Darby

Rights group filed a complaint against the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), alleging that the RSPO has failed to address the complaints of Kalimantan villages against Sime Darby.

Residents of two villages in West Kalimantan have sent complaints to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), alleging among others that Sime Darby has trespassed and grabbed indigenous lands without free, prior and informed consent.

Sime Darby has responded by saying that the case is being discussed in the RSPO annual meetings and that the RSPO complaint manager has visited and met with the communities several times.
