Killing of indigenous leader & land rights defender opposing Los Encinos‏ hydroelectric dam. Mr. Javier Vásquez Benítez, a member of the Independent Indigenous Lenca de la Paz - Honduras Movement (MILPAH), was murdered in the context of social unrest by the opposition of MILPAH and other organizations to the concessions of hydroelectric projects by the Honduran authorities in their territory.
