After a lengthy gestation period and much speculation, Business in the Community introduced its Corporate Responsibility Index to the world in March...It provides a centralised focus for the evaluation and improvement of social and environmental performance, but it also shows senior managers – often for the first time – how, in an operational sense, CR cannot be seen as a centralised function and that it relates to everyone in the company, not just the corporate affairs department or equivalent.
