英国第四频道…播出一部纪录片,揭露中国部分诊所试图用「电击治疗(又称转换疗法)」去「治疗」同性恋。报道指,由于同性恋不是病,内地医护此举有骗财之嫌。

…天津某医院的资深心理医生,被揭对同性恋男子约翰(化名)说,采取冷水浴、跑步、催吐药、电击等手段,能抑制他对男人的性冲动,甚至可以让他对这种性冲动感到厌恶和害怕…电视台派出另一名同性恋男子作为「卧底」,带着隐藏式摄像头前往另一家医院,切身体验到电击带来的麻木感和阵痛。治疗费为3500元人民币,相当于他三个多星期的工资…但他的同性恋取向并没有「被治愈」,因此他得继续花钱…

中国于1997年将同性恋非犯罪化,2001年发布第三版《中国精神障碍分类与诊断标准》,确定同性恋不是病。
