On 20 March 2024, 30 farmers and land rights defenders were arrested in Buxar, Bihar, India. Several farmers were staging protests against outside the construction site of a thermal power plant for better compensation for their land acquisition and jobs for young people. The protesters clashed with police near the main gate of the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s (SJVN) 1,320 MW coal power plant.
