On 14 April 2023, 6 protesters from Brooke’s Point, Palawan, Philippines were arrested and allegedly injured as about 200 police and security guards dismantled barricades put up in front of Ipilan Nickel Mining Corp (INC), subsidiary of the country’s second-largest nickel producer, Global Ferronickel Holdings. The protesters fear that the nickel extracted from their mountains will destroy their area known for its high levels of biodiversity.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre contacted Ipilan Nickel Mining Corp to respond, it did not.
