In May 2025, eight former employees of Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine CJSC (ZCMC), who had participated in a social strike earlier that year, were sued by the company for alleged damages amounting to 4,758,480,000 Armenian drams (approximately USD 12 million). The strike, held from January 31 to February 10, 2025, called for improved working, environmental, and health conditions, along with wage increases. Following ZCMC’s request, the Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance of Syunik Region imposed interim measures on May 20, 2025, placing a ban on the property of the eight dismissed workers to secure the claim. We invited the ZCMC to respond; it did not.
