ADB did not respond

We requested the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to respond to the following questions in relation to the Tamakoshi V Hydroelectric Project:

  1. How does ADB address concerns regarding the lack of consultation with Indigenous Tamang communities and the absence of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), as mandated by the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP)?
  2. What measures has ADB implemented to ensure compliance with its own safeguard policies and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), particularly regarding the prevention of adverse impacts on the rights and livelihoods of affected communities?
  3. Given reports of state-sponsored violence, arrests, and intimidation of peaceful protesters, what steps is ADB taking to ensure that its projects do not contribute to human rights violations, as outlined under the UNGPs' requirement for due diligence?
  4. How does ADB ensure that the environmental and social impacts of the Tamakoshi-Kathmandu Transmission Line Project are thoroughly assessed, addressed, and mitigated, in line with international standards including UNDRIP and the UNGPs?
