Argentina: Province of Neuquén wants to accelerate the construction of a wind farm

"Neuquén wants to accelerate its second wind farm" - June 14, 2020

... The province of Neuquén is not satisfied with the recent start of the first wind farm on Neuquén soil, and is now seeking to reactivate the construction of Los Meandros, the other wind development that has been bogged down by financing problems. ... The main interest of the Neuquén province authorities has to do with the fact that the wind farm has 125 MW of capacity reserved in the power lines and prevents it from accelerating other renewable projects, such as the 100 MW Picún Leufú wind farm... Initially it was going to be a 75 MW park but the firm China Envision Energy, in charge of the project, relocated a 50 MW park that was to be installed in Cerro Alto, Rio Negro province, to the Los Meandros site, due to a conflict with a community originating from the neighbouring province. Last year, land movements began works and two construction companies were hired to carry out the civil work of the park; however, the contracts were later terminated due to lack of funding. Meanwhile, the province of Neuquén was responsible for solving other problems that arose to try to keep the wind farm afloat: inside the park there was an American mining company that had permits to make explorations and the contract was rescinded... the government could not do much more and the ball was in the court of the Chinese capitals, who had to define if they would continue with the project or not...
