Cambodia: Two factories suspended after causing environmental damage in violation of Environmental Code; cos. non-responses

BHRRC Cambodia
In June 2025, two factories’ operations were suspended by the Ministry of Environment after they were allegedly found to “be illegally discharging liquid waste into local water sources, causing environmental damage to communities” impacting Prek Kampong Smach and Prek Phao in Prey Nop District, Preah Sihanouk Province. The two companies are Kubon (Cambodia) Biotechnology Co., Ltd and Cambodian Noble Taste Food Co., Ltd.
The suspension was made after the Ministry found that both factories “violated several environmental regulations, including provisions in the Environment and Natural Resources Code and sub-decrees related to water pollution control”.
Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited both Kubon (Cambodia) Biotechnology Co., Ltd and Cambodian Noble Taste Food Co., Ltd to respond the allegations but they did not.
