"Base Code Guidance: Child Labour", 3 July 2017

This guidance is intended to help businesses understand child labour and the responsibilities of companies to embed the application of ETI’s Base Code Clause 4 in their global supply chains...The guidance provides advice to companies on what they could and should do to identify, manage, mitigate, prevent and continuously monitor and improve their approaches to child labour.

The report is structured as follows: the first part contains some important basic information about child labour, the challenges for companies and the minimum standards enshrined in the ETI Base Code. The second section describes the steps involved in applying a due diligence approach and contains advice on what companies can do to identify child labour, manage situations where child labour is found, and how to prevent it from occurring in their supply chains. The final section contains definitions, information on international standards, as well as useful references and resources.
