The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has banned the owner of the online radio and website "Echo", 5 June 2025

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has declared Radio Echo GmbH, a German-registered company that owns the online publication and radio station Echo, undesirable. The media was launched by former employees of the Echo of Moscow radio station.

The radio station and the website of Ekho Moskvy were blocked by Roskomnadzor at the request of the prosecutor's office shortly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After that, the main shareholder of the radio station, the holding company Gazprom-Media, closed the editorial office. The Ekho website contains the archive of the closed radio station and broadcasts programs by its former employees...

Inclusion in the list of undesirables means a ban on the operation of a legal entity on the territory of Russia and a ban on Russian citizens from cooperating with it. The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia can practically arbitrarily assign such a status to any foreign or international non-governmental organization.
