Govts. announce 21 new projects under UN Clean Development Mechanism

"Governments See CDM as Crucial for Paris Goals: New Project Portfolio Launched in Marrakech," 8 Nov 2016 

Government officials meeting in Marrakech have said that the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has a key role in helping countries achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement…The call was made at a meeting of Nationally Designated Authorities (DNAs) under the Clean Development Mechanism…in the Moroccan city. Also in Marrakech officials launched a portfolio of projects designed to boost the development of carbon market instruments as a means to help countries achieve their national climate action plans…The so-called Nairobi Framework Partnership (NFP) project portfolio consists of 21 projects…“This close cooperation between DNAs and international organizations is a good model for how we can work together at national and international levels to identify and bring forward the knowledge and support needed to implement Nationally Determined Contributions”, said Miriam L. Hinostroza, head of UNEP-DTU’s Low Carbon Development programme. “It also shows that this can be done in a short period of time, as this effort started less than nine months ago”…
