Intergovt. Working Group on Binding Treaty: 2nd intersessional consultation on 3-5 June
Update: The 2nd intersessional thematic consultation will now take place on 3-5 June on Article 6 (Prevention), Article 8 (Legal liability), Article 9 (Jurisdiction), Article 11 (Applicable law), and subject to time, Article 10 (Statute of limitations).
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights presents its compliments to all Permanent and Observer Missions … and, on behalf of the Chair-Rapporteur of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group (OEIGWG) with the mandate to elaborate an international legally binding instrument to regulate … transnational corporations and other business enterprises, has the honour to make reference to the Chair-Rapporteur’s recommendation included in paragraph 29(d) of the report on the 10th session … “to present a confirmed 2025 roadmap for the implementation of HRC Decision 56/116, including the holding of intersessional thematic consultations … in line with the mandate established by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 26/9, with the assistance … of the legal experts”.
Unfortunately, the ongoing lack of clarity … linked to the availability of funds for 2025, including for conference services … has been aggravated…
This translates into the possibility of holding only one … consultation in June 2025 as initially foreseen in the roadmap.
Due to these circumstances … the second thematic consultation focused on Article 6 (Prevention) and Article 8 (Legal liability) will take place from 4 to 5 June 2025 (venue to be confirmed)…
