Kazakhstan: One dead and five hospitalised after explosion at mine in Akzhal

A spontaneous explosion occurred at the mine, 8 July 2024

On July 6, a spontaneous explosion occurred at 02:40 at the mine of the Gornyak artel in the village of Akzhal. A second explosion occurred at 02:52.

There were 64 people in the mine, and two people - front-end loader drivers - were working outside on the mountain.

65 people were evacuated, of which 5 were hospitalised in the district hospital.
