On 12 March 2025, Kabir Hossain, joint secretary of the National Garment Workers’ Federation (NGWF), union president Khairuzzaman Sabuj and general secretary Nur Habib of the union at the Polo Composite Knit Industries were allegedly unlawfully detained. The detention alleged was based on a police report made by the management of Polo Composite Knit Industries in November 2024. The police report included charges related to blocking highways and colluding with outsiders to damage the factory. The detention took place following protests against unpaid wages and illegal dismissals at the factory on 8 March 2025, which allegedly were met with violence.
