Louis Dreyfus' response on alleged supply chain links to harmful palm oil

...As a global merchant and processor of a wide range of agricultural products, we recognize our responsibility to minimize the environmental impacts of our activities, uphold the rights of local communities and/or indigenous people connected with our supply chains, and influence our business partners to do the same. In that spirit, we aim to ensure all palm suppliersto LDC comply with ourPalm Sustainability Policy. Taking an inclusive approach is central to our model for sustainable business. Where we observe supply chain challenges, we engage with suppliers to help them adapt their practices in line with our sustainability policies. In cases of continued non-compliance, we make decisions to remove suppliers from our approved supplier list. We take very seriously the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest’s assertion that an entity in our palm oil supply chain, Grupo Ocho Sur, may be in violation of our Palm Sustainability Policy. While we do not have a direct commercial relationship with this entity, we have initiated a grievance investigation and supplier engagement process, in line with our Palm Grievance Protocol. Facilitated by our direct trading partner, we have conducted multiple meetings with this indirect supplier to receive feedback on the allegations in the report and documentation to inform our further investigation. We are also scheduling an onsite visit later this month as part of this investigation. Progress toward the resolution of this grievance will be reported in our Palm Grievance List...
