Panamá: Importante garantizar derechos de las personas trabajadoras despedidas por Minera Panamá

"Minera en Panamá pide terminar contratos con más de 4.000 trabajadores tras fallo contra ley 406", 9 de diciembre de 2023.

La mina Cobre Panamá, de la compañía Minera Panamá, filial de la canadiense First Quantum Minerals, pidió al Ministerio de Trabajo del país que autorice la terminación de contratos de más de 4.000 colaboradores por "causas justificadas de carácter económico", informó la compañía este viernes en un comunicado. La decisión se tomó, según explica, a que luego del fallo de la Corte Suprema de Justicia de Panamá, que declaró inconstitucional la Ley 406, en que se basó un contrato minero, el Ministerio de Comercio e Industrias del país instruyó a Cobre Panamá a "finalizar las operaciones de extracción, procesamiento, beneficio, transporte, exportación y comercialización, así como las actividades mineras en general"...
