Rosalina Domínguez is an indigenous land and territory defender and member of the organisation COPINH, that Berta Cáceres was director of. The organisation has actively opposed the hydroelectric project owned by energy company DESA, accused in the case of the killing of Berta Cáceres. On 28th September 2019 a man identified as Donato Madrid threatened, grabbed by the neck and attempted to kill Rosalina Domínguez when she asked him to desist from threatening members of the Río Blanco community who have recuperated lands from the company DESA. Rosalina was able to defend herself and remove Donato Madrid from the community. The Madrid family, a family with important economic interests in the region, has been accused of threats and attacks against defenders linked to the Berta Cáceres case, as highlighted by national and international organisations.
