Russia: Amazon & Microsoft suspend operation of their cloud-based services, local IT co. informs users

Amazon, Microsoft suspend operation of their cloud products in Russia, 15 March 2024

American companies Amazon and Microsoft are suspending access to their cloud products in Russia...Report informs via foreign media.

Softline representatives confirmed that relevant information was received from the two technology giants. They emphasized that for Russian users this means the complete impossibility of using products of American companies and accessing the data stored in them.

“According to letters from copyright holders, starting from this date, access to cloud products such as (but not limited to) Power BI, Dynamics CRM and others will be suspended. We believe that the suspension will also affect cloud solutions that include these products,” Softline representatives said.

It is stated that the restrictions are related to the “12th EU sanctions package”, which limits the supply of business analytics software and other products to Russia.

Softline’s vice president for investments Elena Volotovskaya also published a relevant letter from Microsoft on her Telegram channel. In addition, in connection with the upcoming termination of access, Softline warned about possible functional limitations in the execution of cloud services not only from Microsoft and Amazon, but also from Google. Therefore, all companies are advised to back up their data as soon as possible to avoid losing access to important information.
