Spain: 14 migrant workers allegedly forced to work irregularly with false identities as part of a 'network of labour exploitation' in construction sites in Lanzarote

Comisiones Obreras Canarias has condemned the events uncovered as part of police operation Bordillo, carried out by the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders of Las Palmas of the National Police in Lanzarote. This investigation revealed a network of labor exploitation and identity theft in various construction sites on the island.
The operation has resulted in 16 arrests, including two businessmen from the construction sector and 14 foreign workers, allegedly forced to operate irregularly using false identities. According to investigations, we are dealing with an organized system that severely violates the labor and human rights of the employed individuals, taking advantage of their vulnerable situation.
From CCOO Canarias they have denounced that some employers "continue to consider migrant people as slave labor, denying them any dignified treatment and benefiting from practices that are incompatible with the Rule of Law, social justice, and democratic principles".
CCOO Canarias has unequivocally stated that all workers, regardless of their origin or administrative status, deserve dignity, respect, and protection. Labor exploitation harms those who suffer it and also deteriorates the entire labor market, fostering unfair competition and precarious working conditions in the sector...
