UAE: Undocumented Kenyan workers detained for 7 months after calling police after seeing bodyguard beaten to death by company

On December 11, 2023, a tragic incident at a Chinese company based in Ajman, Dubai, led to the detention of several Kenyan workers.

The incident began when a bodyguard employed by the company was caught stealing by his employer….

…the employer allegedly summoned other guards, who then beat the accused to death.

…the violence prompted one of the female workers to call the police…

Upon arrival, the authorities arrested all those involved..

It was discovered that many of the detained Kenyans had overstayed their visas and faced other document-related issues…

…they were detained and held in custody, awaiting deportation…
