Letters to the Editor: Globalisation with a heart

Sir, I write regarding your article on Unilever's role in the "anti-globalisation" movement through its Ben & Jerry's subsidiary ("Unilever funds anti-capitalists", October 16). Hurray for them!...Many of those activist organisations are not against globalisation; rather, they support responsible globalisation and development, with more accountability...First I read about Unilever's vision in The Economist this week; now I read about their hands-off approach with Ben and Jerry's grants. A lesser company would have steamrollered the opposition. Unilever shows that there is room for dialogue and other opinions. I am encouraged to see in this case that globalisation does have a heart. I'm off to buy some of their stocks!
