Many still use child labour in Namibia

The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare says the exploitation of child labour by Namibian employers spans the spectrum of the country's racial and ethnic groups…Deputy Minister… Alpheus Muheua, says improvement is required in several key areas in order to succeed in eliminating child labour in the country completely…The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare conducts annual inspections targetted at spotting and exposing child labour throughout the country...[N]umerous instances of underage Zambian children working in the Caprivi and Kavango regions were uncovered, as well as additional cases of Namibian child labour, particularly in the agricultural sector..[S]ome of the key areas that need to be addressed to combat child labour in Namibia include ongoing public and stakeholder education, expanded human and financial capacity, strengthened inter-ministerial cooperation, a coordinating body, a national monitoring system and inter-state cooperation to address problems arising from the employment of foreign children.
