Mcdonalds workers strike on 'global day of action' demanding higher wages & secure contracts

"Striking McDonald’s staff demanding £15 an hour say they want Labour government", 12 November 2019

...Staff taking part in the ‘McStrike’ protested outside several stores in London today, calling for £15 an hour wages, and an end to youth rates of pay.

They are also demanding a choice of 40 hours a week guaranteed, notice of shifts four weeks in advance and recognition of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union...

...[The strike was] part of a global day of action called by the International Union of Food Workers, which will see demonstrations several countries including France, Belgium, Brazil, Chile and New Zealand...

...A McDonald’s spokesman assured customers the six London stores affected...[and] said: ‘We are extremely disappointed that a very small number of our people in just a handful of our restaurants are considering industrial action...We are committed to investing in our workforce, listening to and doing what is right by them.’...
